Back to Pavalion

I am writing this on Nov, 11th 2008. Exactly 1 month after my project got over. Please read in this context.

Hi All

I am in the dressing room again.

My current job is getting over this week. I really enjoyed my work, actually there was not much work. We were a team of 4. My main work was on generating reporting. Work was cool.

My manager was a female, and u know wht.. Yes r u right. The most ridiculous manager seen in my life, yet. She did not know nothing, all she was best was at Micro Management. When are you coming and going, lunch timings. etc. Although she was trying her best to learn the things.

A team member, the senior most, was one day coming at 9.05AM. She raised her eyes and said "You are late today!". He never went at 5 06 6. Always used to stay back for work. And my manager, I named her Gangu Bai. Gangu Bai never stated till 5.00 PM.
She was very of her citizenship.

Any how, i do not want to criticize her much.

The senior team mate was very cooperative and supportive, otherwise it would have been a bitter affair. My Super Manager said since we do not have much work for Q4 and Q1 2009 next year, we are not extending the project. We also had a new full time employee, i guess that was the reason that my project did not extended.

Anyways, let see when is my next venture.

When my project got ver I was under the impression that My employer will give me onbench salary(which he promised before we came to india and also he HAS to pay by law), BUT I got a call from him that "We will not be able to pay you on bench.".

This is just bull shit, how can they back off from their promises. Actually all these desi conpanies will do like this. He gave me reasons like US economy going down, etc all that crap.

The time I was into job then never all good, but I was on bench, they shows their real face and breed. I was really sick.

My company also help my airfare, my security money and now they will pay be just 10 days of my salary....

Guys, i sometimes see the USA is a sweel net/cage where we all come to earn in tons. But this is all the bull shit that going in parallel.

Please do the background check of the company that you are going to join. My company has a comple of certificates like "Winner of 2007 NJBIA Awards for Excellence in the Job Creation Category" and "Winner of 2007 NJBIZ New Jersey's Finest Award" honoring 50 Fastest Growing Companies in NJ". I do not know how they managed to get these, but I am sure these institutes also did not had a good background of the companies.

PLAY SAFE.

My project ended and my wifes also, how is this world will we survive?

Time to repeate the History

I know anything that is created has to be destroyed, anything that takes birth; dies. But every time it happens, I am very said.

In a few days from now, i will have to vacate my apartment. I am very attached with the apartment and i am very reluctant to move out. More ever, my roommate Thierry ( he is from Burundy, Africa) is very nice. I have never seen such a calm, repsonsible person. He never indulged in anything that i did not liked, on the contraductiory he was very responsible.

Sometimes he used to call me, asking the status of something, when i forgot to call him back.

Its very good here, the office is waking distance.

I have used his utensils, microwave, Vacuum Cleaner, and he never said anything. I don't know what he must have thought about me. I have never seen him Smoking, drinking, parting. Yes he sleeping and working in homw were eratic. He used to sleep
in eve and working on his laptop at night. But i never got disturbed.

Its like, the destiny of his and mine converged at this point and now the time has come to separate. Now he will meet some new person and so do I. Someone rightly said that like is like a Train. You stop on some station for a few moments and then start again to carry the further journey.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Time to go to office.

H1B the story less told

My dear Indian friends, Boys and Girls...

IT professionals, May be from TCS, Wipro, HCL and other small big It companies all (99%) have a dream of coming to this $$$ land. Where there a lot of money and glamor.

When I used to saw Hollywood movies, i thought girls is USA are wow .. I can ask any girl to go out. Dating was just a smile away. However, I am still not contradicting my belief since its not much time spent here in USA.

Well, let me come to the mail purpose of this posting: The hidden things about H1B if you are being hired by a consultant. The things that you are not aware and find yourself in a complete alien world.

Here is the flash back till you come to a port of entry in USA.

1. You receive an email from some company saying that " Re you ready to come to the woder land USA for H1B ?"

2. You reply to it, attaching your resume and reading all the stuff in the mail.
Some consultants ask for some security money, some will file your H1B for free and also promise to give you a free ticket to and fro once a year. Some will give you USD 500 per month for grocery, others will say " We will take care of your boarding and lounging".

3. You are shortlisted "WOW", you get an interview. You crack it, you are offered somewhere between USD 55,000 to USD 70,000. And you are flying high in the sky. You just make a rough calculation 60,000 X 38 = INR 22,80,000. and you jaw falls.

4. Then you make some inquiry to the status of this consultancy, by visiting web sites, taking in forums, calling friends who are already in the USA. And hopefully you find it good.

5. You deposit the security money and the papers (mark sheets, degree certificates, current company offer letter, previous company re-leaving letter, etc) in their local Office.

6. And now you relax, until May-June. Because in this month you will hear if you have been selected in the lottery or not.

7. You guessed it right, You name has been selected. congrats!!! You get a I-797.

8. Between the month of Oct and March, your employer (consultant) will ask you to come down to USA.

So now you have to prepare for VISA interview.

9. You deposit the fee at the HDFC bank for USD 125 (previously USD 100). Book a date.

10. Before few days, you will be giving more mock interviews and the consultant will be telling you to give this answer or that question. Making you cram the address of the place where you will be working, place of residence, revenue of the company etc.

11. Date has come, VISA interview given, STAMPED.
You see the stamp more closely and shout at the top of your voice "Amerika I am coming."

You do shopping, preparing list of things to carry, pack up your things, buy tickets and now you are in USA.

Now, comes the story that I really want to tell you guys.
before this just bear in the mind that its my 22nd day in USA. and I am writing what all I have seen till date. However, what now i am going to tell is 100% truth and this will remain true.

The free boarding and lodging is actually that the company will provide you with the house and grocery and you will have to cook !!! Ha ha poor you.

Ans here comes the best part, you thou that you will land in USA, get SSN and start working @ some client location or the consultant place. You are WRONG.

1. You will make FAKE resume, saying that for the past 6-8 you are working in USA, working at different clients location right from CA to TX to Fl. So you have to decorate your resume with all the things like FAKE Project name, Correct Client Name (but you never worked for him), Incorrect Month and Year.

And your resume start marketing.

2. Client is still far. The first step is that your resume will be forwarded to vendors (Yes, this is a new term). Vendors are actually a bridge between you and the client. The vendor who are 99% non-technical will just ask you :
a. Are you available?
b. Are you familiar with VB.NET and visual Basic.NET too ? (Remember i told you they are not that technical sound).
c. Have you worked on SQL Sever?
bla bla bla...

To which you have to ans Yes, Yes, Yes happily. In you don't then it will not be sent to the client.

3. Client might pick your resume if he finds those keywords in your resume. By the way, keywords = main points in your job responsibilities like ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, Oracle 10g etc.

the client informs the vendor that he liked you resume, ask the candidate for some suitable time/date for interview.

4 The vendor calls you and the date/time is fixed.

You will get call. Hoping that you have done good. You will sign a contact letter. And you are off to the First client's location.

Congrates, the billing has started and NOT you will receive you first salary stub.

Third Weekend in USA

So, this is our 3rd weekend.

Did nothing much I got up late in the morning, I watched movies till 4 15 AM in the morning.
I saw American Pie 5, Euro Trip and watched some clips on You Tube.

P came in the afternoon with food, we had Paneer Mix vegetable and Roti, some tomatoes etc. In the morning we had a new friend from Thailand. His name is SuperThorn. I am sure I have spelled wrong name but Superthorn said this was the correct pronunciation.

In the evening, we together with Mahendra and Babita went to a nearby children park. We played aack-micholi, langari tang. It was fun, after so many days we did some physically activity.

But I wanted to play some serious sports like swimming, basketball or Baseball. Well, i love swimming. We have a nearby swimming pool but it is closed. May be because of winter. I guess it will open in a month's time. If I will be here, i will definitely join and do some splash - slplash.

And is the kitchen we are making Pakore of Paneer, patato, onions and green chilli.

We are not feeling like we are in USA. Since we dont have a car we cant go somewhere, and there is no place nearby to visit.
